This September, three Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus students will accompany 35 members of the CSUSB Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) to Washington, D.C., to explore the amazing history and beauty of the nation’s capital.
The three students – Alexis Rocha, Tiffany Goodman and Pedro Saltipar – are the recipients of a special travel scholarship funded by OLLI members and supporters, as well as the CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation and other university supporters.
The students were selected for this unique, multigenerational learning experience based on a competitive application and interview process. The tour package includes airfare, six nights at the historic Mayflower hotel, tours of Washington, D.C., the monuments, Mount Vernon, Gettysburg, Arlington National Cemetery and Old Town Alexandria.
The Osher Institute is based at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus and offers non-credit courses, trips and events for people age 50 and over. OLLI has nearly 1,000 members and is an integral part of the campus life. In addition to participating in OLLI courses and activities, members support PDC students with scholarships, DEN Food Pantry donations, and other campus endeavors.
