We Define the Future

CSUSB part of ACE’s 17th Internationalization Laboratory cohort

California State University, San Bernardino is one of 18 colleges and universities participating in the American Council on Education’s (ACE) 17th Internationalization Laboratory cohort.

The first meeting of the cohort was held on Aug. 9, in Washington, D.C. Over the next 20 months, CSUSB will develop strategies and goals for campus internationalization, with the goal of long-lasting institutional change.

Each participating institution will form leadership teams to work on strategic planning and student outcomes, attend laboratory meetings in Washington, participate in site visits and peer reviews, and engage in monthly communication with ACE staff and a team of advisers.

“We are very excited about working with the leading experts in the field of internationalization of higher education to develop a comprehensive plan that would provide our students opportunities to broaden their understanding of the world and for our faculty to expand opportunities for international research and collaboration,” said Shari McMahan, CSUSB provost and vice president for academic affairs.

“This is a tremendous, unmatched opportunity for these institutions to share lessons and challenges as they undergo a cultural transformation over the coming months,” said Robin Matross Helms, director for internationalization and global engagement at ACE.
